How I hit 1,000 followers in 6 months

While keeping my girlfriend…

-A Thread-

[Cont…]
First of all, per my girlfriend

- “The main ingredient is that I’m awesome”

Well, she’s not wrong, so not much to say there

All those times I told her I had to check twitter

I’m just lucky she supported me no matter what

[Cont…]
I created this Twitter account in May

Sent my first tweet in June

And if you remember me back then

I had a different name and a different look

[Cont…]
I started as an anon account

Honestly that was my initial intent

Be one of those totally anonymous people

Making loads of money online

With nobody knowing my identity

[Cont…]
While there is absolutely nothing wrong with that

It just wasn’t the path for me

I slowly let the cat out of the bag

I just couldn’t hold back who I was

[Cont…]
Thus “The Noble Nomad” became “Matt Rumancik”

And next thing you know I’m doing video posts

Facetiming with followers from Iceland
(shout out @TheSavageTommy )

And gearing up for some live videos

[Cont…]
But how did I manage to go from 0 to 1,000 followers

In 6 months when I knew nothing about twitter?

Here’s how I did it ⬇️

[Cont…]
1. Learn the game

I didn’t know what I was doing

But I knew I had to “learn the game”

My main objective at first was to watch, and experiment

Just like IRL, find some aspiring people

And watch/learn what they do

[Cont…]
It all started when I followed @hustlenconquer & @WritingToRiches

The first 2 people I saw on money twitter

I followed them, started engaging

But more importantly, studied their ways and put my money where my mouth was

I bought their courses

And learned a LOT

[Cont…]
Don’t waste your money on promo tweets or anything like that

Invest in Gumroad courses… I’ve bought over 15 courses from 7 different creators

You CAN afford it.

Don’t just buy them… read them, apply them.

[Cont…]
Also keep in mind, you’re not here to stir the pot

"Well, Actually...."

I know new people want attention, but

People want to see support and enthusiasm

Don’t think negative attention is going to serve you well

It won’t.

[Cont…]
2. Plan your work

Just like everything else in life worth having

Having a successful twitter account takes work

I know when I was 0-500 followers I didn’t need to tweet much

I spent my time commenting with value

[Cont…]
Commenting with value meant I needed to spend time on twitter

So I made sure Mon-Fri from 8-6 NYC time that I spent 2 diff 30 minute sessions on twitter

Overall that’s about an hour a day for commenting

You can still have a life, and keep the girlfriend

[Cont…]
After about 500 followers you want to become more focused on your content

That’s when I started experimenting with threads

Threads are a great way to grow

[Cont…]
Honestly I had no idea what I was doing

I even did a thread on my skin care routine LOL!

But I tinkered, as I always do, learned, applied, and
evolved

I also learned the importance of scheduling

If you're not scheduling, start now, it's a major help

[Cont…]
At around 600 followers I saw my biggest growth

And to no surprise it was when I set a challenge for myself

I challenged myself to do 3 high-value threads in 3 days

I gained over 200 followers that month!

[Cont…]
Of course I’m still commenting

And if you’re commenting with value

People might check out your page, right?

That’s when they might decide to follow

You know what you have to do next then…

[Cont…]
3. Optimize your profile

If you’re getting eyes on your profile

It better be compelling

Your profile is broken down into 4 parts:

1.) Profile pic
2.) Banner
3.) Bio
4.) Pinned tweet

[Cont…]
These 4 areas need to be working in unison

Explaining who you are and what you do

The “how you do it” is up to you

That’s where being authentic comes in 😎

[Cont…]
If you need any help with profile optimization I recommend setting up time with @lawrencekingyo

While I already own and highly recommend his guides

Getting on the phone with him to talk through your twitter journey is something you can’t put a price on

[Cont…]
4. Be yourself

You know that quote “be yourself, everyone else is taken”

The same applies for twitter

Sure, there’s plenty of room on money twitter

But not for another Matt Rumancik

[Cont…]
If you’re nervous it’s saturated, it’s not

There can never be another you

If you tell your story and you’re authentic

People will connect with you

[Cont...]
The challenge would be if you create something similar to what is already out there

Such as “MattMoneyMindset”

If this were my name, you would likely look at it and assume you already know that person

Be yourself.

[Cont…]
Being myself helped me make some very close connections

I feel like I know @TheStacksMarket and @MidnightUDog basically in person

It’s really amazing the connections you can make here when you are genuine and loyal

Again,

Just like in real life…

[Cont…]
1.) Keep learning the game.

2.) Keep planning your work.

3.) Keep optimizing.

4.) Keep being yourself.
