Unpopular take ahead: #bospoli is extremely defined by individuals who are born and raised in BOS. For those of us who are not, but who love & care abt our new home, it’s very cliquey how being born and raised here means you somehow have more of a stake politically than those not https://twitter.com/reillyadam/status/1335945003932200965
If we want to destroy family dynasties like the Kennedy’s, then we also need to interrogate this narrative that suggests just bc one is born and raised here that this means they are either qualified or ready to represent every one of their constituents.
I am the first to argue for the importance of experiential knowledge. But #bospoli would do better with an #allmeansall attitude, and that includes involving transplants. The argument that @wutrain not being born & raised here means she isn’t most qualified is a huge turn off.
All that to say, #bospoli you really lose me with those old tired narratives abt this being your birth home. This is why we have an insufferable Marty Walsh or Matt Omalley. They were born here. #bospoli is so limited by that sort of appeal.
