My friend was made redundant from his 9-5 on September 25th

In November he earned £1,785 working for himself (£350 more than his monthly wage)

Here’s what we did to get him there

[THREAD]
First we identified what he wanted to do

He said he’d love to have his own web design company but had ZERO experience

Not ideal, but I said I’d help
First we got him a domain through Google and added Google workspace so he would have personalised email

He used Carrd to create a landing page for his services “local web design”

Now we needed someone who could actually build a website
We found a Wordpress and webflow expert freelancer from Fiverr based in India

Charging £280 for up to a 5 page website

Great portfolio

Now he had
✅Site
✅Someone who could do the work

But he needed a case study
We decided to focus on landscapers as that we he previously did for a job

We found local landscaping businesses on Google that didn’t have a website

I emailed them on his behalf

Everything to do with email you need to be following @blackhatwizardd
The email went something like this:

Hey, noticed you don’t have a site. I’ll build you one for £280 (freelancers cost) in exchange for a video testimonial

40 emails sent
3 calls

He outsourced the work to the freelancer who delivered in 5 days

Passed this onto the client and in exchange for a video testimonial

Added that to the Cardd landing page

I got back to sending emails, this time as we had a case study, we increased the price to £595 and started targeting businesses with poor sites

80 emails sent
7 calls booked

That’s £1,785 for November and he can’t even build a website!
Price will soon be going up to £750

Will negotiate lower price with freelancer due to volume

Will start adding SEO (will outsource this also)

The message I wanted to get across here is:

Stop over complicating it, just start!
