1) If you want to be famous, a celebrity, or intend to be a weekend traveling speaker w/o a community, step back & focus on your soul b/f gaining book knowledge. Your knowledge will reflect from your heart. Be aware of your own narcissistic tendencies. إنما الأعمال بالنيات

2) There is no perfect program/place to study. It’s about the time and effort you’re willing to put into your studies outside the classroom. و أن ليس للإنسان إلا ما سعى

3) That said—find a teacher that can dedicate time to you. Someone well learned and accessible who isn’t focused on themselves. Bear the teacher’s shortcomings if they are not egregious. اِصبِر عَلى مُرِّ الجَفا مِن مُعَلِّمٍ فَإِنَّ رُسوبَ العِلمِ في نَفَراتِهِ

4) Have hobbies outside of studying Islam. Faith isn’t something to merely pass time with. It’s easy to forget why you began studying if you get caught up in debating and arguing online.

5) Examine your own biases and see how they interact with your own studies. What are the actual beliefs that you are learning/teaching, as opposed to the biases you have acquired in life?

6) Study primarily open-endedly to better yourself and teach others. Though, have your teacher guide you. Avoid studying primarily for the purpose of being reactionary, utilitarian, reductionist. Islam is bigger than sectarianism and national politics.

7) Feel free to disagree, but I don’t believe social media is a healthy place to engage w/ your faith in a wholesome manner. Knowledge will be sought from those that don’t need to Google everything before they respond to you. It will be sought from those that care for you.

I wish you a healthy and wholesome path to learning the Islamic sciences, so that you can apply it in your life and attain Allah's forgiveness and acceptance through it. Ameen.
