In 1964 women from around the world came together at the first International Conference for Women in Engineering and Science. Now run by @INWES_Europe ICWES will meet for the 18th time next year @icwes18. But who attended the first meetings in 1964 and 1967? #histsci #WomenInSTEM
Among the attendees was cancer specialist from Japan Dorothy Mizoguchi, who was one of several Japanese delegates at the first two ICWES conferences (pictured here with Isabel Hardwich from @WESCentenary)
Ila Ghose, perhaps India's first mechanical engineer, was also there in 1967 (which took place in Cambridge, UK). Here she is delivering a paper.
Active member of the AIDIA (Italian Association for Women Engineers and Architects) Italian engineer Anna Amour was at both 1964 and 1967 conferences (all these amazing images are courtesy of @IETLibArch)
