I came across this theory in Southall that Zia ul Haq of Pakistan was murdered by Khalistanis. It is well known that Aslam Beg was neck deep into the murder. But, all these years, I was breaking my head over how Aslam Beg was linked to Khalistanis. Now, there are two things.
1. When Khalistanis demanded Lahore as capital city of independent Khalistan, Zia kicked them out
2. Aslam Beg did everything to put all important people of Pakistani military on that plane except him.
Superficially, who are the enemies?
1. Russia because of Zia poking his nose into Afghanistan
2. Amreeka because Zia is propping the anti-American Hekmatyar
3. Aslam Beg because Zia is planning for a purge
4. Iran because of Pakistan's role in Iran-Iraq War
5. Shias for the Gilgit Massacre
7. Ahmediyas for declaring them non-Muslim
8. PPP for hanging Bhutto like a common criminal
9. India for assassinating Indira.
In effect, one would see everyone in the world wants Zia dead. So, why Khalistanis? And how?
A few things.
1. The Kanishka bomber Talwinder Singh Parmar was in Pakistan as a state guest between 1985 and 1992
2. In 1985, when a plot to assassinate Rajiv Gandhi was discovered in America, Manjit Singh of ISYF who planned it fled to Pakistan
3. During the last days of Zia's rule, ISI was ordered to engage with India's RAW to settle the Siachen issue. A part of bargain was the surrender of a few Khalistani Terrorists who crossed over from Kashmir.
All of this looks fine. Benazir became PM, Hamid Gul, ISI chief sabotaged both Khalistan and Afghanistan peace process, Benazir in a fit of revenge gave a list of the Khalistani Terrorists to Indian government, breaking the back of Khalistani Terrorism.
So, the position is this. Zia is desperate to fix Siachen but Army's bread and butter is Khalistan, Kashmir and Afghanistan. Immediately after India takes Siachen, Pakistan brings in top Khalistani Terrorists. And Zia is murdered.
The advantage of using Khalistanis?
1. No one will doubt them
2. Even if the attempt fails, there is a motive powerful enough for them to murder Zia.
All you needed was one cleaning staff in Bahawalpur airbase to fix the affairs.
