the slur “rat” can be reached all the way back to the 1300s. if you know about the 1300s then you know, plague! the bubonic plague or the “black death” was a deadly disease that took out over 25 million lives in 1346-1353.
now the “black death” made its way to Europe where most of the damage was done, through 12 ships from Asia, those 12 ships were infested with rats, those rats carried the disease and spread it to humans through biting or eating their foods. any sort of contact to humans
from rats was ways to spread the plague. so it spread, and over those years did the toll. now here’s where i explain the slur.
rats from Asia carried the disease, rats carry disease, and they have carried diseases from Asia to other countries more times then just the plague. rats are known as disease carriers and some of those diseases coming from Asia
made people stereotype Asians as disease characters, just like rats. that’s basically why “rat” is a slur towards Asian people.
so never use the word rat like that, it’s wrong, it’s racist, it’s disgusting. don’t fucking do it.
btw if any of this is wrong please feel free to correct me i’m up for constructive criticism! but im pretty sure this is right! :)
