I’m a big advocate for technology and innovation in Tanzania, however, I am disappointed by the incorrect news frequently shared at innovation events in Tanzania about the realities on the ground.

Kenya is ranked at #42 in the Global Fintech Ranks while Uganda is at #64. @findexable
Tanzania is behind, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda in East Africa innovation.

Kenya is the second most innovative in sub-Saharan Africa, behind South Africa and ahead of Mauritius, according to the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s Global Innovation Index 2019.
It’s pretty lame how we brag about having “50 innovation hubs.”

While it’s a step in the right direction, we have a lot more work to do.

We need:
- policies from government that support the technology ecosystem.
- digital sandbox’s from regulatory bodies.
The list goes on.
