As a non-Black POC, I have absolutely no idea what the Black experience is like and will never equate how I move through the world with how a Black person does. White supremacy is rooted in anti-Blackness, the closer one’s proximity to whiteness, the more privilege one has.
One can be oppressed in other ways, Islamophobia or xenophobia, for example, but as a Southwest Asian /Middle Easterner, I will never ever claim to speak on behalf of all people of color and specifically on or over Black (and Indigenous) folks in the US of A regarding racism.
And this is why I can see why Black folks get so fucking annoyed when they get lumped into generic group names like POC. The Black American experience is unique. As is the Native American experience. As an immigrant who knows my roots and ancestors, I’ll never understand.
