maybe this is unpopular but the situation our government has created w/r/t quasi-lockdowns without support has destroyed our social contract and the people on my feed who WFH and get instacart talking about “just stay home sweeties :p” are actually living in an alternate universe

i stay home because i am a person of immense privilege who can do so comfortably. the majority of our country at this point has no such choice, and shaming them for not happily embracing a no-win situation that is destroying their health or their livelihood is grotesque

the political cudgels about “elites”are often very muddy and suspect. but please realize that in this situation, if you are a financially stable person who can work from home and keep your family safe while having your life delivered, you are an out-of-touch elite in every sense
