A basic test for a #TTRPG system for me. This does not determine its quality, but it does, to me, say something important about balance.

Can the GM of the game casually say "rocks fall, you die" and then that happens?

If so, I think the GM has too much power in your game.
(a hilarious example of this is used in Burning Empires, in which, in the rules, it points out that if the GM wants to do that, it is the "Gambit, Inundate, or Take Action" maneuver, and the result would be determined by the die rolls)
point of clarity, this is an example of the rules of the game actively restricting GM power. My wording is unclear, but this is an example that I LIKE. To "drop space rocks" as a GM, there is a maneuver you must do, and that maneuver is not always successful.
