The utility has proposed a nearly $9 billion dollar plan, in both Kansas and Missouri that will reduce their operating costs by 25%.

Advocates are concerned that in Kansas, @evergypower will only increase their reliance on #renewableenergy by 5%.
#ksleg #moleg
@evergypower
said the plan would allow them to cut #CO2emissions, a major greenhouse gas that contributes to #climatechange, by 85% by 2030.

But this is not in line with President-elect @JoeBiden's promises.
Evergy was also chided for being too "casual" when talking about how their plan would effect #Kansaselectricrates.

The committee also questioned if the plan was the result of Elliott Management Corp, an investor that asked Evergy earlier this to expand their renewables or sell.
And great news for #FirstAmendment advocates, for the first time ever, these hearings are open to the public thanks to the Kansas Industrial Consumers Group, @SierraClubKS and @CEPheartland.
