Reading an interesting thread on reddit about Notre Dame football that I thought might be pertinent to the Hokies.

ND went 4-8 in 2016 and after the season Brian Kelly did several things which I thought were interesting:
-Fired most of his assistants (including some very long-tenured ones), and hired better ones w/ more experience than himself
-Had exit interviews with every player talking about what they wanted him to do better (most of them said they wanted BK to spend more time with them)
-Worked with ND admin. to better organize his alumni and fundraising responsibilities

There were a few other things behind the scenes, and certainly ND has more $$$ in the bank to make these changes happen, but BK did some much needed self-reflection and ND is much better for it
As a HC, when things aren't going well you need to humble yourself, ask "what am I doing wrong", and make uncomfortable decisions. Not say we have never done that, but I get a general sense that the basic philosophy of this staff is "my way or the highway".
There are many factors outside the coaches' control as far as recruiting goes, but they still need to show us a willingness to change and adapt, which requires them to step outside your comfort zone. I really haven't seen that from them over the last 2-3 years.
