#socialcare Musings brought on by family stuff: (thread) current norms seemingly aspired to by social work best practice ‘keep elderly person in own home despite huge issues ’ just so out of kilter with historic/ #anthropolgy patterns of how humans coped:
at some point a persons home becomes a shadow of former self: a liminal space full of equipment, cook chill meals reheated by drop in ppl: loneliness in between: historic pattern was to move to family home of offspring: keeping company. Nearest model to that is a gd #carehome 2/3
Given that the drop in #care pattern is so artificial & new in human history, & so very unsatisfactory so often why is the #carehome alternative so denigrated? Until it is seen for what it can be, a brilliantly social way to live some best time it can never fulfil its potential
