I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and it is a daily uphill battle for me. ⁣

There is a myth that #OCD is simply "being organized" but that is not what it is.

OCD is characterized by unreasonable thoughts and fears (obsessions) that lead to compulsive behaviors.⁣
For me, my OCD manifests in excessive worries about imaginary scenarios that feel so real I can't get them out of my brain and they lead me down dark and inescapable thought patterns.⁣

This short film shows an #OCD thought pattern in action:
Something will trigger me, like something someone says to me or a worry I have, and instead of shrugging it off, I latch onto that possibility of something bad happening and my brain catastrophes to imagine the worst scenario and gets irrationally convinced the worst will happen.
Sure, many people occasionally worry about worst case scenarios, but for folks without OCD they're usually fleeting thoughts that can be pushed away. ⁣

Unlike people without OCD, I cannot just push those thoughts away. They take over my life and occupy my every waking moment.
When I'm going through an OCD thought pattern it is all consuming. The world tunnels into that one worry or what-if and it's the only thing that exists to me.⁣

To everyone struggling with OCD, you are not alone 💖.
