One of the biggest myths out there is that charter schools just cherry pick their students and that’s why they outperform public schools at times.

I teach at one of the most diverse both racially and sociology-economically in Colorado and I know that is not true!
Just like public schools have a wide range of effectiveness. The same thing is true when you add charters and private schools into the mix!

It’s a multi variable answer as to why charters outperform public schools at times! There can’t just be one answer!
It also could be true that schools are more effective when they are smaller and have smaller classroom sizes.

It also could be true that, due to a smaller size, those charters may be more likely to meet their students’ needs.
This is not an anti public school post. I know there are many highly effective public schools out there! I want to keep those schools. I just think that parents and students should have many options to find a school that meets their needs!
If taxpayers are contributing money to fund education. They should be free to take their students to whichever school they prefer! Where some people see the end of traditional education in this, I see brilliant opportunities for both students and teachers!
I do know that charters are behind the curve when it comes to Sped resources but, if more funding was opened up, this issue could easily be addressed!
I also know there is a concern about unlicensed teachers as well but, that is insignificant if those schools are still outperforming the public school counterparts.

Licensing is an interesting debate points.
Most licensed teachers I know all say the same thing.

Teacher licensure does not make you an effective teacher. It is a piece of paper you pay money for in order to open up opportunities for yourself!
To end this particular thread...

For everyone to consider! There would not even be a market for charter schools and private schools if parents/students thought the public school system was an effective organization!

We all have to think on that!
