Today I’m joined by 21 colleagues in writing to thank @SpeakerPelosi for fighting to get working families the help they deserve.

But we also must express deep concern that the emerging proposal fails to extend COVID leave provisions, & inadequately supports child care providers—
When Congress first passed #COVID19 relief measures, they wisely included much-needed support for working families—like paid leave for COVID-related needs, & critical funding for child care providers. Such provisions *must* be included in a new COVID relief package. #FamilesFirst
If not extended, on 12/31 as many as 80M workers & millions of working parents will lose the ability to care for kids learning from home & whose childcare is unavailable. Without guaranteed paid sick & family leave for COVID-related issues—more will be put at-risk. #SavePaidLeave
We also believe we need more than the $10B currently allocated to help save childcare providers — many of whom are struggling just to keep their doors open.
We emphatically ask you ensure them the support they require to serve our children, and to do so as safely as possible.

And the data is clear: w/working families bearing the brunt of this #COVID19 crisis, women—especially women of color—are being pushed out of the workforce in much higher numbers than men.
If the paid leave & child care provisions are allowed to lapse, things will only get worse.

America’s working families deserve our support.
These paid leave and child care provisions save lives, they save jobs — and they’re the right thing to do.
