Hey guys, this is going to be an extension of the Yami thread @Master_of_Amon and I released linked below. This will cover specific cases in the manga demonstrating the main arguments outlined in the thread, as well as an extra bit on why Yami's presentation is Tabata's best.
Here's the thread before we get started. It's shorter than this one I think. https://twitter.com/Master_of_Amon/status/1335349791728037889
Main points:

1. What Yami thinks of Julius in-depth
2. How extends his received kindness towards others
3. Why I think Yami's presentation is the best in Black Clover.
1.) In the original thread, we covered how Yami appreciates Julius' kindness, and respect. We know Yami is reverent of Julius because when Yami is around Julius, he reminisces either about how faithful Julius was or about how he brought him out of his previous harsh experiences
This is shown in chapter 56, where he cycles through various moments of his life and the experiences he had. These moments are often followed up by a display of reverence towards Julius as shown by this panel.
Yami essentially says that Julius was not wrong to put faith in him. Yami's respect for Julius makes him want to prove recognizing his worth was a good decision, as he was the man that allowed his life to start. As a result, Yami pays honors Julius through a great performance.
Yami's respect doesn't waver, as he says something similar in chapter 74. It definitely makes Julius' death a lot sadder from Yami's perspective😭. Yami's relationship with Julius was somewhat shown and given some light, so we can be more sympathetic towards Yami in that case.
2.) Yami makes a deliberate decision to pick those who are social outcasts. The Black Bulls have a reputation for indecency and the like. Despite this, they are all Yami's choices.
Yami deliberately picks these people in order to give them a home, a place, and a family. He wants to allow people, no matter who they are, to feel accepted and valued. Maybe those who he chose initially weren't too most qualified to be Black Bulls. Asta had no magic, for example
Yami doesn't care who he picks, as he sees potential in most, non-pure evil people. This is shown in chapter 134 with Zora, in chapter 219 with Secre, in chapter 140 with Henry, and more. Throughout these moments of encouragement and recruitment, Yami echoes the same message.
"You have value."

By showing the Black Bulls they have value, and doing whatever it takes to bring the best out of them through tough love, risk (irresponsible but cute), and more, he passes down the kindness Julius once showed him.
3. Here are just some of my thoughts on why this presentation is the best in Black Clover. Feel free to disagree, on this whole thread even. It's just me having some fun with some free time.
I WILL say Yami's actions and his contribution to the betterment of his magic-based society are not forced onto the viewer/reader or presented in an overbearing, almost-cringe worthy manner. It's a subtle, show-don't-tell type of presentation, which is something Tabata should do-
more often, in my opinion. It is rarely directly stated what Yami's main purpose here is, and by doing so, it avoids being unnecessarily preachy. People don't always declare their goals to everyone in real life, so Yami's presentation seems realistic.
Also, the reader's intelligence is not insulted by pointing out every small facet of the point of his actions. Rather, we are left to construct this conclusion through well placed clues and Yami's natural actions.
This is not to spite other characters in Black Clover, but a good chunk of them tend to have arcs that are directly told to us, and it can feel unnatural or forced development (no naming names so you actually read the damn thread lmao). Yami does a bit of the opposite.
So, in conclusion, even though I don't think Yami is the best character of all time, I was still happy to see what he had in store, a very small layer beyond being a likeable badass. He's my top 1 for this series hehe.
