i’m in a CH room about the covid vaccine and it’s led by black medical professionals, it’s so informative

might try and summarise points as they go along.. the professionals in the room were saying that there are very rarely complications caused by vaccines. side effects mean that the vaccine is working (the vaccine usually contains a weakened version of the pathogen)

the thalidomide tragedy in the 50s/60s led to thousands of deaths and birth defects. it’s the reason why the vaccine development and administration process today is so heavily regulated

getting the vaccine is the quickest way of achieving herd immunity: more ppl with the vaccine —> more ppl immunised, reducing rate of transmission. ppl who have had covid before may still be able to spread the virus to others so a vaccine that is able to prevent this is useful

a microchip cannot be inserted into the vaccine beloveds

you can choose whether to take it or not but do your research! vaccines will most likely be offered first to people who are high risk (e.g. the elderly, healthcare workers). most ppl will not have to think about taking it until spring 2021 - u will be contacted when it’s ur turn

the vaccine has been thoroughly tested on 30-40 thousand people so far

diff variants of covid have been identified (due to multi-site research) but there is no research to support the existence of new strains that have a diff function to the original virus. therefore, as it stands, the vaccine should be protect against the known variants of covid

any data on adverse effects caused by the vaccine will be made available to the public before the vaccine is rolled out

professionals have really stressed the fact that most of us have been taking vaccines since we were children! there’s also a general consensus in the room that vaccination is the only way out of this pandemic and back to normal

historically, there has been no incidence of adverse effects after 8 weeks of vaccine administration. 7 months of safety data has been collected so far

we are in a crisis so we do not have all the information we need and ppl on the frontline are learning everyday. data has to be extrapolated — this is not something that is specific to the covid vaccine. however, the mechanism of the vaccine is well understood

luciferase = illuminating enzyme in mammals such as fireflies. used in vaccine amplification but is not included in the actual vaccine so it’s not even entering your body it’s called luciferase bc lucifer = light bearer in latin

all in all, the decision to take this vaccine is a personal choice but please make this choice after doing a lot of research and considering the safety of your loved ones and the general public
