Black women and gender non-confirming people have led and been leading the activist movement seen in sports. What I find most disappointing is that even in a year filled with examples of black excellence, the leadership from black people about valuing black lives was erased
I also think it’s important that those of us engaging in this conversation use specific and inclusive language. The majority of the WNBA is made up of black women, most of whom are cis, but not everyone is using that language to describe themselves.
We don’t know how many folks identify in transmasculine ways, so just wanted to throw out a gentle reminder to reflect on the language we use here.
