Alright, folks, it's finally time I do this. Here is a complete thread 👇 on how we built @simplyhireapp using #NoCode tools.
The Stack we used 👇:
1) @glideapps - Main App
2) @webflow - Landing Page
3) @zapier - Automation
4) @zzbots1 - Automation
5) @Mailchimp - Email List
6) @airtable - Database
7) @googledocs (Sheets) - Database
One thing to note here is that we haven't subscribed to any of their subscriptions and yet we are able to pull this off FREE of charge 😁.
Let's start with how we used @webflow for our 3 separate landing pages. If you are aware, Webflow only allows you to create 2 pages in its free tier. But, our smart asses used the default 404 page as another landing page since we really do not need it 😛.
Notice the URLs. We needed 3 different landing pages under the same domain because the audience we target doesn't really want to navigate the entire website searching for their content. Instead, to ease the process, we created each one dedicated to their category.
Now, let's talk about collecting data. We primarily used Google Forms as it allows users to upload images which is a necessary part that helps with profiles and verifications.
The data we collect here shows up in its own Google Sheet. The data from both these Different Sheets is then sent to 2 Different databases Airtable & Google Sheets using along with email addresses to Mailchimp (for workers) via Zappier.
Now, since Zappier's free plan only allows 5 Zaps, we created another Zappier and ZzBots account that gets connected with our Google Drive & another Mailchimp account (for businesses).
Now, the primary reason we have used Google Sheets so much is that Glide Apps is primarily built around Google Sheets. Hence, we heavily rely on it. Once the data is in the main Sheet, it gets transferred around from one worksheet to another with the help of Zapier (refer above).
This is where the magic begins. We have used some special and powerful tools offered by Glide Apps that work like a charm. Obviously, I cannot share the full details, but, I will list the ones we used 👇:
1) Row IDs
2) Relations
3) Booleans
4) If Else Then
5) Lookups
From all the above features, the one we used the most is Relations & Lookups coupled with the ability to lookup multiple rows at once. This might sound confusing if you haven't used Glide. But, once you get the hang of it, it's really simple and easy.
Once all the functions and calculations are set, now it's time to set different tabs and surface features. We have 4 tabs setup out of which, 2 remain common. My Account and the Matches.
Now, depending upon your category, you are shown the Available Jobs tab or the Available Workers tab. A user at most can see 3 different tabs.
Once the tabs are set, we need to set filters and visibility functions in order to show what's relevant to a person.
For eg., in the image below, we can see both workers and businesses list, but with the help of the visibility feature, we can only show a particular list based on who has logged in the app.
All the above things might seem really confusing to a person who has not used Glide, but it's really easy to execute and implement if you use a little bit of logic. Also, since we have constrained ourselves, we cannot really share all the details.
All these logical implementations have resulted in an app that has features such as 👇:
1) Match (Shows you the most relevant profile based on your own profile)
2) My Account (Ability to turn off/on your profile to delist it from the lists)
3) Likes (Notify them & also save it)
4) Filters (Ability to sort/filter by the type, age, location, etc.)
5) Edit (You can edit your own profile)
6) WhatsApp Message (We used http://wa.me  to add a button that takes a person to WhatsApp where they can chat easily)
Now, if you noticed, we really didn't use Airtable that much, since, Glide only functions on Google Sheets, but, since Airtable has better view features, we use it to find one's profile and help accordingly.
And there you have it. Your own app made using #NoCode tools built free of charge and in a matter of weeks. I am really proud of what our team at @simplyhireapp has pulled off.
I know, I have missed some of the important points on how to use and implement these tools. But it is really hard to summarise them here. There are many tutorials by companies themselves that explain how you can use those tools. Learn and implement. That's how I learned.
Hope you enjoyed this short and fun thread 😁.
