I knew years ago when the conservatives showed up at Target and gatherings armed with assault weapons that they were issuing direct threats to human beings. They said it was just exercising their rights. We now see clearly the idea is to threaten others with death to meet an ends https://twitter.com/lpohutsky19/status/1335594981516595200
Conservatives have created an entire enemy class out of half the country. They then devolve into a warrior fantasy about protecting “their” country from these enemies. They openly show themselves in public with weapons designed to kill massive numbers of humans as a threat.
People raised concerns about these folks brandishing weapons and using threatening rhetoric. Those concerned were minimized and gaslighted into believing they were overreacting. Now when conservatives face political defeat, they are openly threatening violence.
As gun ownership moved toward violent aggression, the groups that would historically lead gun owners toward responsibility chose rather to cash in on the new warrior aggressor mentality. The NRA and congressional leaders didn’t point out the deranged behavior, they celebrated.
