Hardly anyone knows about the father of the Khalistan movement !! I have made a little tireless efforts here, and tried to briefly tell you all here !
INTRO:
The Khalistan movement, which aims to establish an autonomous Sikh state, was originally created by Jagjit Singh Chauhan.
Chauhan, a Sikh, grew up in Tanda in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, roughly 180 km from Chandigarh. Dr. Chauhan, a medical practitioner, was first elected by Tanda to the Punjab Assembly as a member of the Republican Party of India in 1967. When the Akali Dal-led coalition
government took power in Punjab, he became the Deputy Speaker.Chauhan was made finance minister when Mr. Lachhman Singh Gill became Chief Minister. He lost the assembly election in 1969.
The Khalistani Currency:
He migrated to the United Kingdom in 1971. He went to Nankana Sahib in Pakistan the same year to attempt to establish a rebel Sikh government. He later, at the invitation of some supporters, visited the US. He put an advertising announcing a sovereign
Khalistani-Sikh state in the New York Times on Oct 13, 1971. He returned to India in 1977, then in 1979 he moved to Britain again. Chauhan founded an association in London that he called the Khalistan National Council
and ran its activities from a building called the Khalistan House.Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale kept in touch with him. In Canada, the USA, and Germany, Chauhan also maintained relations between different parties. As a guest of leaders such as Chaudhuri Zahoor Elahi, he visited
Pakistan. Chauhan declared himself President of the Republic of Khalistan" elected a Cabinet, and issued "passports" "postage stamps" and "Khalistan dollars" to Khalistan .It is claimed that he opened an Ecuadorean bank account to fund his operation with the aid of a wealthy
Californian supporter, a peach magnate.

I will try to cover up more details in my next thread.
