At the end of chapter 62, Seungho faces his personal MOMENT OF TRUTH. The narrative and visual parallels between this scene and the pavillion rape are obvious. Has he learned his lesson from that last time? #PainteroftheNight
That by hurting Nakyum, he hurts himself as well. How much has he truly changed? Will he rape NK violently like back then, will he seduce him gently, will he leave? Because while Seungho hasn't gone through an abrupt personality transformation, he HAS changed in many subtle ways.
He's become less and less violent with Nakyum and whenever he hurts Nakyum in a fit of anger, he regrets it immediately afterwards. He has basically developed a visceral reaction to Nakyum getting hurt. Even in the pavillion, Nakyum's pain didn't bring him any pleasure, .
instead it made him feel even worse and more frustrated. Seungho might be many things, but he isn't a sadist.
Both situations are almost identical - Seungho has huge hopes after spending a night making love to Nakyum, only to end up feeling rejected and hurt by Nakyum's words.
He also uses violence against the boy, but this time, despite his rage and pain, he manages to control it. He doesn't bruise Nakyum's face or make him bleed. The change is subtle and barely noticeble, but it is there and, with a man like Seungho, that makes a huge difference.
