PEOPLE. For funsies (and free stuff), I’m doing a timeshare presentation. I might live tweet it.
So far, just sitting and waiting for this 2 hour preso to start. Met a cool couple. My travel companion is here to help NOT agree to anything. I’m not planning on buying a timeshare. But anything is possible!
Twitters. The woman getting to know us did copywriting for Tony Robbins! There’s a reason there are “inspirational” quotes on the whiteboard. I’m ready to make my dreams more important than my excuses!
Now the real preso is starting. Acknowledging that we’re here for the free stuff. Also filling out a questionnaire. He’s ready to tell me how to get more for my $$$
Ok. He’s selling that cruises are part of this. It’s interesting. But I will remain strong, even through this video about all the resorts in Hawaii!
Now it’s about how much vacations WE DON’T take as Americans. He’s not wrong. But we’re in the “you’re going to regret what you didn’t do” phase of the preso. This is a masterclass in motivational selling.
Heartfelt story about moments. Moments are more important than money. If you don’t believe that, this timeshare isn’t for you! I mean I say similar things about time being more important. But this is great. Ppl calling out the right answers. Getting primed to pay.
There’s homework to further prime us! We can do it while we watch a video about the life we could be living in Cabo
Side note: We are confusing TF out of everyone who wants to sell us. We’re friends. We live 8 hrs apart. They are confused to see a man and woman traveling together that aren’t “together.” This is a regular thing for me, as I often travel with man friends.
Another video, this time about Tahoe. Michael Buble singing is involved. I mean, my love of travel is pulling me, but I can remain strong. Because he keeps saying motivational things, and I wonder if the Robbins copywriter wrote this preso.
No mention of price so far ... other than pointing out that it doesn’t matter because experience and whatever. Also, they are anticipating objections and addressing them. This is great. Honestly, thinking of redoing sales copy on the course to basically just follow this model.
Although I do like that they set up this timeshare more like a travel booking site. They claim there aren’t maintenance fees. You pay with points that you bought. But what if I pay with my credit card points already?
These points you can use! If you do cash flexibility instead, you can do a week in Spain for $250! But how much does it cost up front? That’s the question. But they won’t tell us that yet. Need us to feel excited about all the great experiences we’re about to have.
HE JUST SAID PEOPLE COME IN HERE NOT INTENDING TO BUY BUT WE CHANGE THEIR MINDSET!
Testimonials. From people who have changed their mindset to experience more with timeshares! Now I’m pumped - ready to do “something today to make sure “someday” doesn’t change into NEVER “
Ok, they keep showing exclusive concerts with country music “superstars” that I’ve never heard of. If they promise me a Garth Brooks concert, I’m in.
“If you’re not into experiences and money is more important, this isn’t for you and that’s ok.”
When they finally get to price I’m going to do my analysis based on my Viking River Cruise experience.
They sold one! First one to sign up got a free trip. That was not me. But the social proof is happening now!
Asking us about what we like. And letting us know it’s a total no brainer. What else do we need to know to join? Mine: what does it cost? Apparently my mindset hasn’t changed enough.
Trying to avoid telling us about cost. And asking us what we can spend. We’re at the “car sales” point. What can you afford? And how much do you spend on travel?
They are trying to find a car that fits us, including incentives. Oh sorry, I meant the timeshare packages. But they want to know if we’re open today. And we’re still confusing them with us making separate finances. They can’t wrap their heads around this.
My travel companion said he’d need to talk to his financial planner before doing this. “Do you really want ask your finance guy before taking a vacation?” No. But maybe he wants to make sure this fits his priorities and won’t compromise his other goals.
Now she’s in the back. Talking to her manager. About what numbers will work. It’s really like being at a car dealership. I’m dying to see this pricing now.
Like, they kept trying to keep us from price. But I always kept coming back to the bottom line. Because I already like my life . I travel a lot. And do so affordably. So ... I’m not a good target.
And they have a lease plan! 10 years! She’s asking which plan we prefer. Like, neither. I’m out.
She came back with a new offer after talking with her manager. Remained strong. Thank goodness for a solid travel companion to keep me grounded
Finally checked out, had to run the gamut again, but we made it. And, we got $300 in vouchers. Honestly, though, the masterclass in selling was thing. Even better than the Rich Dad thingy I did several years ago. Now I just need me an annuity invite for a steak dinner.
