A couple of notes I have after re-watching Harrison Bailey's first start yesterday for the #Vols (thread):

- he did a good job of ID'ing blitzes pre-snap
- short/intermediate accuracy was good, deep accuracy was a concern
- went through progressions quickly, sometimes too quick
Florida sends 7 on a 0-blitz. UT only has 6 blockers.

He did a good job pre-snap of recognizing the right LB creeping towards the line of scrimmage, gets it picked up, and gives himself the maximum amount of time to make this throw.

Slight miscommunication makes this incomplete
Bailey went 15-18 with 119 yards and 1 TD on throws in the short/intermediate areas (throws behind the line of scrimmage - 19 yards)

On the 4th down play he knows he'll have man on the outside against Palmer, good timing and placement on his back shoulder results in a first down
The deep accuracy was an issue. On throws of 20+ yards he went 0-4.

Most of them were overthrows so arm strength isn't the issue, he was just off.

4 throws is a tiny sample size so I would love to see more attempts before saying deep accuracy is a legitimate concern
At times, he moved too quickly through his reads.

Florida is playing cover 1. He should notice that the inside slot corner on his left is playing with inside leverage so the out to Johnson will be open.

It is open, but he looks it off too quickly and hits his checkdown.
For his first start, he was fine. Nothing spectacular but he didn't seem like the stage was too big for him.

Yes, there were some misses but he never truly looked panicked. I would love to see more of him in these last couple of games but who knows what the QB situation will be.
