Many Jewish folks of color that are so keen on shooting down Ashkenazim for identifying as non-white (reclaiming roots) have yet to experience what it’s like to get violently targeted by white supremacists on the basis of their Jewish** identity** (despite having lighter skin)
What many Ashkenazim face (half of my heritage included) may be significantly different from what you endure on a daily basis, including on a systemic lvl., but until we are not targeted disproportionately for being perceived as “THE Jews”, you cannot shut us out of POC discourse
It’s almost as if they are implicitly saying that there is a “homogenous POC experience” inclusive of all - BUT the Ashkenazi Jew.

As far as I’m concerned, the main difference between us & various other MENA Americans are Anglicized last names — not physical appearances
Even so, many Lebanese and other MENA (Levantine groups especially) have anglicized last names and light pigmentations - which further indicates why Ashkenazim should not be given exclusionary and exceptional treatment on this!
There is real pain and division between the JOC convert community & Ashk. establishment that needs to be addressed & healed, but clapping back at ‘white-functioning Ashkenazim’ for not facing the same oppression while getting targeted by antisemites left and right isn’t helpful.
