John the Baptist is trending. Christians are super focused on “he called on everyone to repent of their sins”. But something John said often goes ignored:
John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”
John replied, “If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry.”
Biblical wealth redistribution: Acts 4:34-35: “There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.”
Now, the Book of Acts and Gospel of Luke from which these two passages come was written around 80-90AD. Karl Marx was born in 1818. So evangelicals cannot say wealth redistribution is strictly a “communist” idea when the founders of their faith practiced it.
