Britain Yearly Meeting 'holds' all Quakers & Quaker communities together within it's (rather complex) ecosystem. Every local meeting is part of an area meeting which has direct representation within BYM through MfS & other committees.
When there is a national matter that is of concern to Quakers, Britain Yearly Meeting/Quakers in Britain can provide a unified voice for Quakers.

Britain Yearly Meeting manages centrally managed work that Quakers want to see happen. For example, the social justice work of QPSW which include international peacebuilding, supporting local activism, climate justice and issues affecting refugees and asylum seekers.
Local Quaker meetings receive support from Quaker life staff and local development workers so that Friends can be less burdened with tasks and can enjoy the life of their meetings more.
Aspect of how our faith works like MfS and the various committees are supported and serviced.
And, BYM supports and gives funding to other Quaker organisations like QUNO and Quaker Council for European Affairs.
BYM offers and manages grants for local meeting houses and hardship grants for individual Friends that overseers can access.
But all this needs funding to support. With the closure of Friends House due to Covid, BYM has lost 40% of it's income which will take a while to recover.
The best way that Friends can support BYM is through regular giving with equal generosity, according to their means. All donations - whether ÂŁ2 a month or ÂŁ200 a month are equally valuable.
