For many, Trumpism has opened a floodgate of arbitrary unfounded resentment. And they feel & act anointed. This is problematic everywhere, no doubt. But an area that will require deliberate action (not just hoping that a new administration is “the cure”) is the Federal workforce.
For those with lengthy careers during which fair treatment increasingly became codified, the abrupt shifts brought by the Trump Administration were jarring. Implementing them went against people’s morals, but they were trapped, both by needing a paycheck and by hope for 2021.
I don’t know how bad the psychological damage to the Federal workforce has been. I don’t know if proximity to brazen Trump-supporting (career) management has led to PTSD (or another harm). I know those people will still be around on 1-21 and that the workforce needs reassurance.
