Every main character on Star Trek: Discovery is an autistic stereotype A THREAD
Michael Burnham: The so used to masking in order to fit in that she never developed likes, dislikes, or a full sense of self and instead fills that void with a devotion to a cause larger than herself and an out-of-control messiah complex autistic
Saru: The terrified of his own power and inner self to the point that he's convinced embracing who he truly is will literally kill him autistic
Phillipa Georgiou: The so-used-to-wearing-her-intimidating-mask that it's actually just her now and she believes it so hard that when it slips she immediately shuts down and falls over autistic
Gabriel Lorca: The absolutely believes that being different makes him superior to everyone else around him and has let that belief fuck up his judgement and empathy muscles to the point he's kind of a dick but he's an endearing dick you kinda want to succeed anyway autistic
Tilly: The smartest and most capable person in the room that no one listened to because she was small and quirky, so now, despite being charming, well liked, and listened to, she does NOT know when to shut the fuck up and just roll with the moment autistic
Stamets: Science boy who pretends he doesn't want to save the world yet keeps on having to save it every damn time and actually relishes the fact that he's totally necessary because literally no one else alive is quite like him autistic
Pike: The guy who has no bloody idea that he is autistic but has thrown every single one of his skill points into charm and leadership so that you never ever question whether or not he can do anything else, just let him save the day and be preternaturally pleasant autistic
Culber: The takes ten months to cope with change but grows some awesome facial hair during that extended meltdown autistic.

Also the autistic who knows he should probably be a protagonist but makes Michael Burnham step in in his place every ep in season 3.
Tyler: The "oh shit I also have twelve comorbid disorders that may or may not include DID & schizophrenia and also I black out a lot and don't know whether or not I can be held accountable for my actions, but I have a heart of GOLD in there somewhere & just need a hug" autistic
Spock: Emotions?? What are.... emotions? Much confusion? Oh fuck??

That autistic.
Andira: Way too good at connecting the collective unconscious adorable enby autistic, 10/10 would subscribe to their tik tok and probably followed their tumblr circa 2010
Book: Overwhelming connection to everyone to the point that he chose to completely overhaul his life and devote himself to solving the world's problems autistic

Doubles as the perhaps way too obsessed with his cat autistic.
L'Rell: The tomboy who has not just been one of the boys her whole life, but been the obvious BEST of the boys... and now that she also wants to be a wife & mother, she doesn't know what the fuck to do so she carries on being a bad bitch but come on please love me back autistic
Thanks for joining me on this journey. Just to clarify- though I think that in many casesthese characters do genuinely scan to these stereotypes, this thread has been for entertainment & humor, & comes from my own projections. I don't think this was intentional from Star Trek.
Oh fuck I forgot Reno

The completely sick of your shit autistic who, though she's been through hell and come out the other side on her sheer strength of will and ability to excel running on adrenaline and adrenaline alone, has still managed to remain compassionate & funny
Reno also, as far as I'm concerned, wins the award for The Most Balanced Person on The Discovery.

Hell, she might win the award for The Only Balanced Person on The Discovery.
