A thread about today’s 6D National Assembly ‘elections’ in Venezuela about what’s been going on in the lead up to today.
#Venezuela #6D
Today’s ‘elections’ are about the National Assembly (AN). This is the assembly that Juan Guaido is the leader of. The opposition is boycotting as democratic conditions were not met by Maduro and neither the EU,OAS,US or UN election observers will be there to monitor the election.
It didn’t matter that the opposition was boycotting the election, because the major opposition parties were ‘taken over’ by Maduros Supreme Court (TSJ) and an ad-hoc board of directors were placed in charge of their parties, all the ‘new leaders’ were Maduro friendly.
After the ‘new leaders’ of these parties were installed they announced they would take part in the elections, despite the actual opposition parties boycotting, this was done to try and legitimize the election,as Maduro wants to make it look like the opposition parties are involved
This happened to the opposition parties, Acción Democrática (AD), Voluntad Popular (VP), COPEI and Primero Justicia (PJ) although PJ were given back control of their party by the TSJ but they still boycotted.
On today’s ballot these parties will appear, but the real political parties aren’t taking part as their parties been hijacked by Maduros Supreme Court.
This also happened to left wing revolutionary parties. The Venezuelan communist party (PCV), Patria Para Todos (PPT) and the Tupamaros all split from supporting Maduros PSUV party and set up a ‘Revolutionary Popular Alternative’ (APR) group.
In response both PPT and the Tupamaros were also taken over by the TSJ and new pro Maduro leaders of these parties were ‘appointed’ by the TSJ. Immediately these new ‘leaders’ supported the PSUV again and withdrew support for the APR.
So today’s ‘elections’ don’t have any recognized international observers, all major parties that could challenge Maduro have been hijacked by the Supreme Court and have either been forced to support Maduro, or forced to take part to legitimize the election.
