We live in a society today which professes itself a democratic republic. There were phases in human history when we were governed by monarchs: Justice Jasti Chelameswar.
Many a time the monarchs were cruel. Hence, the system of elected governments came into existence where the leader is elected by people and anybody can contest for highest office: Justice Chelameswar.
But are mere elections sufficient? No we have established a Constitutional democracy with some regulations and set of rules: Justice Jasti Chelameswar.
Rule of law has many facets including people knowing about law, how it is ensured that people know the Do's and Dont's under the law, the implementation and enforcement of the law: Justice Jasti Chelameswar.
Many a time, laws are there on statute book but we find a lot of inadeuqacies when it comes to implementation: Justice Jasti Chelameswar.
When implementation becomes less efficient, the occurrences of offences become more frequent. In practice, implementation of law leaves much to be desired: Justice Jasti Chelameswar.
