There seems to be a strain of thought among (generally) White men that completely ignores the reality that, like it or not, we're in this together.

I'm not talking about the virus. I'm talking about society.

There's a nearsightedness in that form of thinking.
All around us, everyday, we engage in small, casual actions of trust towards other human beings.

We follow traffic laws when police aren't around. We wait for people to exit elevators before we enter.

Even radical libertarians do these things.
There's this radical right wing Libertarian instinct that seems to pretend the individual is capable of being an island from society.

It's nearly impossible to disconnect.
