I sent a DM to @kelseyhightower from Google about my concerns related to public speaking. He quickly responded and sent me a Meet link. We spoke for about 40 minutes around 2.30 am ET. He gave me some of the best advice I could’ve ever received. A thread 🧵
“In a group of 10,000 people, look for 3 people. One on the left, one on the right and one in the center. Those are your friends. Talk to them and connect with them”
“Put the anchor words in your slides. Even if people don’t understand what you say, they can look at the slides and make sense out of it”
“People might hate you, they might like you but you have to be yourself. Don’t worry about your accent and your tone. Just express yourself freely like you express in front of your closed ones”
“It’s really important to connect with the audience. Start telling a story and make them feel comfortable and interested in whatever you want to present.”
“Live demos might not work sometimes. That’s fine as long as you know it works. Go ahead and explain what it does”
He is an inspiring thought leader and an amazing personality that I really admire. Thank you so much for your time @kelseyhightower
