Something sad in our culture is that we judge people based on status. As soon someone leaves school or work to take care of their mental health or because they need a break, we don’t like to be seen with them because status to people is more important than the human connection.
I remember in my undergrad, I had to drop out for 2 years during my heavy depression/anxiety and so many people were very quick to dissociate from me because of that. But as soon as I became a psychologist, they wanted me in their circle again.
It is important to remember that mental illness can hide our light and true potential but it doesn’t eliminate it. We can end up bouncing back stronger than before 😊
