"wtf is wrong with you, talking about that shit with your therapist"
Honey, you are aware therapists have doctor-patient confidentiality because you're SUPPOSED to work through your deepest, darkest struggles with them, right? What do you think the field is here for? A picnic?

Me, getting instruction on how to work with clients who have killed someone, raped them, tortured them horrifically, etc: oh no I sure hope they never talk to me about their fav anime pairings
You guys need to rethink why you're choosing this career if you can't handle your clients telling you about fanfic. Mental health issues aren't pretty or palatable and people seeking help are TRUSTING you with their most vulnerable selves. Shit on that and your license goes too.
Like, yeah, I'm specifically going into work that's offered for people with serious criminal offenses, but even your more everyday clientele handling therapists will hear some dark shit. It's called "people don't typically seek help unless they, yk, need it".
Idk what you expect them to tell you. They come to you to give them tools to help them with something that is literally classified as either dangerous, deviant, dysfunctional, or distressing. They're not going to talk to you about puppies.
Even without a DSM diagnosis on hand, "my marriage is falling apart" or "I'm no longer able to maintain my job", etc etc, aren't easy conversations. I just. Please readjust your expectations before you seriously hurt your client.
