We were treated to yet another example of the bottomless pit that is the shameless hypocrisy of @jkenney . Posting a message of thanks to healthcare workers, while he refuses to take the steps necessary to protect those workers and our healthcare system. An Orwellian triumph.
Not only do he and @shandro refuse to implement a mask mandate and shut down casinos, bars and in-restaurant dining, they are actively imperiling HCW's, and all Albertans, with their callous refusal to implement the federal Covid tracing app, for purely political purposes.
And what could possibly be the reason for their refusal to make available the federal wage subsidy to top up the wages of HCW's during the pandemic? Once again, for the @UCPCaucus , cruel political calculus trumps (yes I use the word with intent) compassion, integrity, morality.
And poor hapless, feckless @shandro . Incapable of a coherent and meaningful response to legitimate questions around his pathetic conduct as health Minister. Screaming "scare mongering" to anyone who dares ask about exploding case numbers and the need for field hospitals.
And has @shandro ever heard about the need to avoid real conflicts of interest, and **the appearance** of conflicts of interest. Oh those pesky shares in a private health insurance company owned by him and his wife.
As we all struggle to protect our families, ourselves, our jobs and our businesses, the full extent of the callous cruelty of @jkenney @shandro @UCPCaucus is on display. We are paying a terrible price here in Alberta for Kenney's hubris and ideology. We must not forget in 2023.
Nor should we forget what I call the Silence of the Sophists, those MLA's and UCP enablers and supporters who stood by and said nothing while their party plunged this province into a crisis and despair that need not have been so devastating. We will remember and get in the way.
