FUCK NO, WTAF. https://twitter.com/henriettacook/status/1335323912855425024
How dare @VicGovDHHS collate and share patient data when not all hospitals are even reporting their wait times for specialist clinics
“The proposed changes would give the department authority to electronically share patients' current and historical health information across public hospitals and health services.”
This proposal will kill patients with complex conditions who seek a second opinion. Because admins won’t let them access the wait list cos they’ll argue they’ve already been see elsewhere
Alfred Health faced no consequences for failing to diagnose me with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I went without diagnosis til middle aged. But if their notes had been shared with every other health admin, I might never have gotten an alternative appointment at all
The stigma and misdiagnosis would’ve carried across different hospitals, under @VicGovDHHS’s new proposal and locked me out of diagnosis and treatment
Mercy Hospital admin would’ve been like “why do you want an appointment, you recently saw RWH. Nope.” I wanted an appointment specifically with a gyno who was an expert in immunology and my only way to see her was to visit the correct public health service.
She diagnosed me autoimmune progesterone anaphylaxis. Without that diagnosis and the treatment that comes with it I’d have no quality of life
Oh. @VicGovDHHS wants to fuck my healthcare completely. That I believe.
As someone who uses a microdose of non-opiate pain meds to avoid systemic stigmatisation that the rest of schedule 8 med users go through, it’s obvious @VicGovDHHS couldn’t give a shit about privacy, human rights, patient centred care or health outcomes
We’ve seen Barwon Health locked due to ransomware. I’ve previously been alerted to patient data online (and let a hospital know via a data rights colleague). We cannot trust @VicGovDHHS to store this data safely
The proposal to share patient data without patient consent potentially breaches privacy rights expressed in s.13 of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006. I’d also argue that it potentially chills freedom of expression, breaching s.15
How do sex workers feel about having their data shared across all Vic health services, forever and ever, no entropy in the identity or past history health services tag you with?
