/ Any other startups using software startup tools in their bio startups? Recent reflection has me wondering how many useful micro-innovations are going on out there in comp-bio startups that could be shared.
/ If @proteinqure is successful, one of the underrated things will probably be the whole company being on @gitlab. That includes engineers, wet lab and business ops (all two of us!). The irony is that I was basically the only one against it at the beginning.
/ We tried using different project management tools (ClickUp, spreadsheets, http://monday.com ) but I have been impressed by how valuable it is to have a system of record for project management that allows nice discussion. And gitlab is already feature-rich.
/ Thought it would be hard to get bench scientists and business people on board. Thinking they would naturally resist an overly complicated/engineered tool. But our eng team did a really good job piloting the system and then teaching it. And of course, we tend to...
/ ...hire for desire and ability to learn new things. Not sure if this will scale as we need to hire more specialists and executives, but I hope other bio companies think about moving beyond the standard project management tools.
/ Not really the glamorous part of what we are innovating on (the science!), but valuable for the whole ecosystem if startups figure out better ways to execute (even if only worth a few percent). Not sure how we will integrate our electronic lab notebooks eventually...
/ ...either, but maybe someone else can solve that.
