How do we support the family?
1. Listen to the family’s wishes first and foremost. Follow their lead.
2. Obtain permission from the family to hold any vigils or demonstrations in which the name of the victim will be invoked.

3. Supoort the family's fundraisers. Obtain permission from the family prior to doing any fundraising.
4. Ensure there is a single point of contact with the family to avoid overwhelming them.

5. Identify a single point of contact for the media and confirm that person is approved by the family. Direct media inquiries to one location to reduce stress on the family & ensure interviews are only conducted if they are scheduled in advance and with the family’s approval.
