Who is really gonna put the time and effort to check out the comics cause of movies that are popular when it’s filled with a dense history and complicated info, it’s hard as hell to find all the books cause retailers care for manga more, and it keeps lecturing its readers?
Meanwhile manga has had MUCH more of an advantage both digitally and physically with readers being accepting of reading in both mediums

The politics don’t help. It’s a bigger issue but you got too many people trying to write comics to get their series kicked off into a tv series, trying to put their own agenda into something, and have no respect or care for a series.
They aren’t hiring creators who give a damn.

Not to mention it’s stupid hard to find certain series at places normal folks go to for books.
No one’s gonna easily go to a comic book store, no one’s gonna know exactly how to look up all the issues in a story, or what’s even the right continuity either.

TLDR, yeah it’s annoying people bring up politics, but it IS a valid reason on top of the other issues coming with a “dinosaur” like comics
