RU students! Did you know...
1. that the C3SVS, the Good Food Centre, the Trans Collective, and the centre for Women and Centre for Women and Trans People have been recently dismantled by the RSU? That's 4 Equity Centres in the last 8 months.

2. Last year a motion was passed to ensure that the RSU Executive admin. would not be able to dismantle Equity Centres without the Board of Director's (BoD) approval. RSU executives breached this bylaw & BoDs found out about the dismantlement through an
@theeyeopener article.
@theeyeopener article.
3. RSU president Yousaf Ali continues to cite a decrease in calls to justify the dismantlement of C3SVS and its sexual violence victim support services. This does not justify the termination of every staff/volunteer member of @ruc3svs.
4. C3SVS had initiatives & programs in the works. Ex. online Sexual Assault Survivor Support Line (SASSL) training; a student-led task-force called RU Supporting Survivors (RUSS); collaborative events for the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women & more.
5. At the Nov. 24 Board Meeting, when an RSU Director inquired as to why they wouldn't discuss the recent termination of the Campus Group Coordinator, RSU pres. cited vague "legal" reasons. He then removed students from the meeting for +1 hour, while the RSU privately discussed.
6. When asked why the pres. refused to let a motion pass re: signing CESAR's letter of denouncement against the Egerton Ryerson statue on campus, he said that CESAR was a separate entity & RSU can't sign its letter. He suggested they send out a survey re: the statue.
7. RSU has always been a separate entity from the university, in its presence as a union for full-time undergraduate students (as it is also separate from CESAR) Pres. Yousaf's reasoning for refusing to sign CESAR's letter is absurd.
8. You should also know that the RSU still has not appointed an Indigenous Director.
9. RSU VP of Equity, Vaishali Vinayak, the person responsible for reading land acknowledgments out of respect for Indigenous communities was asked her "Stance" on the Egerton statue, to which she said: "I told you that I personally don't want to have an opinion about it."
10. We presented a letter of denouncement detailing these issues at the Nov. 24 BoD meeting. After over 4 hours of the meeting, Shany Raitsin was 1 of 2 student reps. that got to speak. After 5 min. she was asked to "wrap things up." When she kept reading, Pres. Yousaf muted her.
1. Does this sound like an RSU administration you want to trust your fees with?
2. Does this sound like an RSU admin. that cares about you?
3. After hearing about the initiatives that C3SVS was working on & people who need this centre, how do you feel about its dismantlement?
