The Government’s / Department’s own evaluation of LSLD admitted that LSLD was not designed, “did not specifically aim to improve student outcomes.”
As part of an ideological obsession LSLD shifted blame (responsibility) onto schools deflecting accountability of the government for efficiency savings aka massive cuts in resources and support for schools
The introduction LSLD saw the loss of over 800 officers from the Department who worked directly with schools to support the learning of students.
Today’s announcement is more about spin than substance.
Today’s announcement is more about spin than substance.
There is no evidence in today’s announcement of the restoration of the cuts in the provision of specialist support to schools / teaching and learning.
Today sees another announcement aimed at blaming teachers and principals for system failures and the lack of adequate funding and support. It will not address crippling administrative burdens placed on schools - much needed as per the Govt’s / Dept’s own evaluation of LSLD.
