This fall I asked my transplant team if I should get the flu vaccine and they said no. My immune system is so compromised right now my body would likely not mount any immune response.

I suspect the same is true of the COVID vaccine (will check with them next week)
This next year is going to be tricky for me, and people like me, who are immunocompromised.

As the vaccine rolls out, it is likely public health orders will be rescinded or not enforced. Many people will just stop wearing masks.
The vaccines that have been announced so far have not been tested for whether the inoculated person can spread the virus, just that they don't get sick.

Community spread will still be happening at the same time some of us are not protected https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-11-11/if-we-re-not-careful-a-vaccine-might-help-covid-19-spread
I'll say it again: the vaccines so far only prevent the person from developing COVID symptoms, so far we don't know if they can still spread the virus.

This is a big problem and will make this next year extremely tricky to navigate.
Especially since we've already seen the fake dichotomy between "lockdown" and "the economy" in the parts of Canada with conservative government, resulting in thousands of deaths.

Imagine these regions in a post-vaccine world. Would any of those governments will protect us?
Even in regions like BC where there has been almost said-like regard for our public health officer - the reluctance to recognize aerosol spread, not adopting the national COVID app, crowded schools and delayed mask mandate killed a lot of people.
I worry that a post-vaccine BC will result in the PHO reverting to "monitoring" case loads and keeping everything open as long as the death rate isn't too high.

They won't say it, but their philosophy is that some deaths are acceptable.

I hope it's not me.
