This is the quality of the discourse. A UCD academic responds to @fotoole & states emphatically that those she considers bigots are "funded by right wing US groups such as the Heritage Foundation." Links to @nytimes article that most would assume confirms this assertion.
Article is an oped, an OPINION, by a feminist theorist. Her #GotchaTake is "On her same trip to Washington, the woman claiming to be a feminist, standing up for the rights of lesbians everywhere, made sure to drop by the right-wing Heritage Foundation". https://www.nytimes.com/2019/02/07/opinion/terf-trans-women-britain.html
To substantiate her point she links to this thread. By Mr Paisley. Which apparently backs up her claim that "what is currently at stake in Ireland is a right wing funded 'LGB Alliance' seeks to recruit to its cause here". But thread doesn't show that. https://twitter.com/DavidPaisley/status/1222999786749558789?s=20
It basically is a piece of data analysis that shows SHOCK HORROR that people on social media operate in feedback loops & echo chambers. Algorithms and confirmation bias. That is what it is. Oh good god. Perhaps big tech is the #ChillingEffect. I should just stop reading!
And basically I am now RIGHT WING by association because some <gasp> gender critical people follow me. And of course nobody who is on the side of Amnesty follows me. So one more step to denial of legitimate representation for me. Do you see how the #chillingEffect works?
