Russia is now starting mass coronavirus vaccinations of its population with the Sputnik V vaccine. They are doing this without robust safety data from Phase 3 clinical trials. That really means millions of Russians are participating in Phase 3 clinical trials like guinea pigs.

For better or worse, if Russians tolerate the Sputnik V vaccine without any safety issues or long term problems, then I would much rather take the Sputnik V vaccine than anything from Moderna or Pfizer or AstraZeneca. The only problem is that this rush to mass testing is immoral.

The dilemma is do we benefit from medical research that comes from abusive government action towards its own people? Do we let millions of Russians risk their lives with a rushed vaccine which then provides the most robust data on safety compared to any other vaccine available?
