A little thread....

One of the things I love about Twitter is the random connections you can make with people you have never met. This afternoon, I'm chatting about products for curly hair (having previously swapped tips with @cathynewman & an Australian politician)... n/1
But a few weeks ago, I was thinking of viewing a house that had a utility pole right in the middle of a field I'd have wanted to put a horse riding arena into. So I asked here on Twitter whether it's possible to get these things moved, and how much does it cost... n/2
And one of the responses came from @GowlandAdam, whom I don't know and have never met. He emailed me some really useful tips and pointed out that @NFUtweets (of which I'm a member, although no smallholding YET) have a specialist energy department... n/3
And then Adam just happened to mentioned he grew up in the Dales, many of his mates were members and always seemed to get good advice from the NFU, so my ears pricked up. Where in the Dales are you from, I asked... n/4
And he replied "I'm from Ingleton originally (in middle of the Three Peaks)" so I said, I know where Ingleton is, that's where my dad's from, his father used to be the village greengrocer... here's my granddad - in Ingleton - with my older brother, cousin, and me as a baby....n/5
Well, we didn't go and view the house with the electricity pole in the field, and I forgot about the chat with Adam. Until today. When he kindly messages me with these photos & "I’ve been home today - this is where you had your picture with your granddad" ... n/6
... and one of the house that used to be my granddad's shop (on the right). And I thought that was just bloody lovely... n/7
And this, my friends, is why I value Twitter. As well as the #FOAMed, and finding solace in the clusterfuck that is #Brexit with other @Europhiles, and why I put up with the occasional roasting from radical sepsis campagns (and, of course, #DonutDoctor #oink). n/8
... and I have made many wonderful friends here, some of whom I have been lucky enough to met in person, but the connectivity to find someone kind enough to remember about an inconsequential chat about my granddad's shop is pretty damn cool. TY all! n/9/ends
