Here's my @JoeBiden foreign policy "to do" list in the first year.

Day One: rejoin the Paris climate agreement. THREAD.
2. Extend the New START Treaty for five years.
3. Reenter the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA). Once done, devise and implement a new comprehensive strategy for containing Iranian influence in the region and promoting democracy inside Iran.
4. Convene a heads of state summit with NATO & the EU, affirming U.S. commitment to containing (& at times engaging) Russia & strengthening ties between democratic allies and partners.Tackling the ideological component of competition between democracy & autocracy must be central
5. Hold a similar summit of democracies in Asia, with the Quad at its core. Signal a new U.S. commitment to contain and engage China in cooperation with our democratic allies and friends. Affirm the SQ regarding Taiwan.
6. Convene the promised Democracy Summit to which all small d democrats (human rights activists, scholars, independent media, etc) should be invited not just governments. Produce deliverables -- a new Global Fund for Democracy; new norms for tech -- not just a photo up.
7. All the while in the first year, fundamentally reorganize the USG to enhance diplomacy, more effectively use our government media & public diplomacy resources, and better support democracy and sustainable development around the world. Give climate policy a much bigger role
8. Attend December 2021 White House and State Department holiday receptions safely. Rest. END THREAD.
