Since I’m reflecting this morning while waiting for A&M to BTHO Auburn, another thing I’ve been thinking about, and this isn’t a fuck you subtweet this is ah oh I’ve thought about this for a while but a tweet reminded me of this thought and now it’s fully formed so I can send 1/x
So...I would love to spend time in here tweeting today we scrubbed this SOP and now have a plan to fight and win at NTC. And I think 95% want the same thing, maybe combat focused or other big change/improvement/innovation focused
But...it’s hard to do that internal review for those big wins/innovations when the day job I feel like CGO and below, which is the majority of “milTwitter”, where we’re chasing “small, messy wins”
-It’s the SPC(P) whose name wasn’t on the promotion list due to a HRC mistake, getting that fixed
-It’s the quick email of suggesting a way to still get smaller training that hits higher’s intent but isn’t full fledged due to time/resource constraints

-It’s a we shoved an hour in and had a good LPD for NCOs on something
-It’s the NCO backchecking his PL to get some minor task done
-it’s the three hours of work w/a FMT at ~50% strength to fix one truck, but go from a 88 to 90% OR rate
-Talking w/a Soldier struggling cause his

city has continually been a hotspot and hasn’t been able both due to restrictions and family health issues to visit
-It’s a leader learning an “obvious” TTP to be a better leader because it’s never been obvious to him
And then the time it takes to refocus on the big win

Just as people like to read books/doctrine in early mornings or on their patios because they’re not being disturbed so they can concentrate it’s the same way with doing a PSOP or whatever, now multiply that by the stakeholders involved, cause a PSOP planned in isolation is

All stuff that doesn’t get captured in that weekly roll up or tweet or whatever.
And that’s not to say this isn’t being done by staff or other leaders as well but it’s always kind reductive and slightly annoying when we seem to be dick-measuring by PSOPs created and AGAIN I

like PSOPS, or TTP discussion Twitter but and you know People First, just as that SPC who needs the AER loan doesn’t care what book you tweeted about, they don’t care about the PSOP. Yes, it will save their life in combat, but in the moment they can’t make it to combat if they
get kicked from the army due to poor financial management or their spouse leaves them due to financial problems or whatever, yes worse case scenarios but all valid and possible. Mazlow’s Hierachy of Needs or something.
And again, considering the most vocal miltwitter is Company Grade leaders, that’s what you’re gonna get vice PSOPs/TTPs
IDK, just some random thoughts
IDK, just some random thoughts
So what am I gonna do within my formation? Get better at highlighting those small wins that don’t reach the level of a coin or impact AAM or whatever, and if you have suggestions let me know. I think words are great but some people have different love languages/whatever
